About Wild Iris *

Classically trained, creatively reimagined.

Hi! We’re Kristi and Claire, the duo behind Wild Iris.

We’re Nashville-based violin and viola players who met through the music world and became fast friends almost immediately. Somewhere between rehearsals, performances, and one very important wine + charcuterie night, we realized we shared the same vision: live music that feels polished but not precious, artistic but approachable.

Wild Iris is our answer to that.

After years of performing in orchestras, symphonies, weddings, and events across the country, we wanted to create a sound that fit modern spaces—hotels, bars, restaurants, patios, pop-ups, and anywhere atmosphere matters.

Our sets blend familiar favorites, unexpected arrangements, and modern energy that’s designed to elevate the room without stealing the spotlight.

We honor our classical roots, but we don’t let them box us in. Our sound is intentional, curated, and alive; made to feel natural in the room, not rehearsed for it.

We believe live music should enhance a space, not overwhelm it. And that’s exactly what we do.

Named after Tennessee’s state flower, the wild iris reflects our sound:

elegant, resilient, and beautifully untamed. ✶

Meet the Duo

Kristi Monte Strohwig

Kristi began playing violin at age six and has performed with orchestras and ensembles across the United States, from intimate venues to major arenas like Bridgestone Arena and NJPAC.

With a degree in Instrumental Music Education and years of experience leading award-winning ensembles, Kristi brings both musical excellence and a deep understanding of what makes live music work in real-world settings.

Her playing style is expressive, energetic, and intuitive—always reading the room and responding to the moment. When she’s not performing, she’s teaching violin and viola in Nashville, spending time with her husband Greg and their two Australian Shepherds, or enjoying a glass of wine on the porch.

Claire Kane Whitcomb

Claire’s musical journey began early—piano at age four, viola at twelve, violin soon after—and has taken her through some of the most respected music programs and orchestras in the country.

She holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, studying under several renowned musicians. Claire has held tenured positions with professional orchestras and regularly performs with symphonies across the Southeast and Midwest.

Beyond the stage, Claire is a gifted arranger and educator, known for bringing fresh life to both classical and pop music. Her creative range and love for unexpected instrumentation plays a huge role in shaping the Wild Iris sound.
